My name is Hal Eccles, and I’m a designer and maker working primarily with timber to create thoughtful, functional, and beautifully crafted pieces.
I studied Industrial Design at the University of Teesside in 1997, building a strong foundation in materials, making processes, and practical design. Since then, I’ve worked on a wide range of projects, from product development for companies such as Flymo and Alstom, through to bespoke work for artists, galleries, and private clients.
Today, my practice is rooted in craft, sustainability, and a respect for natural materials—particularly timber and its inherent character. I enjoy working closely with clients to create honest, well-resolved pieces, whether that’s furniture, display work, or site-specific commissions.
Alongside gallery and commercial work, I also collaborate with individuals on private projects, always aiming to balance simplicity, function, and careful craftsmanship.
